Why Use a Document Scanner
Ensuring that your device does not have private information or passwords on it is essential for maintaining your privacy and protecting your personal data. If your device falls into the wrong hands, whether through theft or loss, the information on it can be used to compromise your online identity, steal your financial information, or even commit fraud in your name.
Furthermore, if you decide to sell or dispose of your device without properly erasing your personal information, you run the risk of having that information accessed by someone else. Even if you think you have deleted everything, traces of personal data may still be present on the device, leaving you vulnerable to identity theft or other cybercrimes.
By taking the necessary steps to ensure your device is free of private information and passwords, you can mitigate the risk of your personal data falling into the wrong hands. This includes regularly deleting old files, removing sensitive data from your device, and using strong, unique passwords that you change frequently. Overall, making sure your device is free of private information and passwords is crucial for protecting your privacy and personal data in the digital age.
Scanning Your Device for Vulnerable Documents
First, from the Main Screen, click on the "Document Scanner". If you did not allow permissions to your files, you may be prompted to allow the app access to your device files.
Next, you can click the cog wheel to change your scan settings, but by default the scanner will check for 4 categories of personal data that should be scanned for.
Click "Scan" and the scanner will begin. If it finds documents that may contain information that's vulnerable, you can see them here. Note this is not a virus scan, these documents are for you to review for data that might be private. Do not delete unless you are sure.
Deleting Vulnerable Documents
Click the check box to the right of any document you wish to remove from your device, and click the "DELETE" button at the bottom. You'll be prompted to click "Yes" or "No" to ensure you understand this action cannot be undone.
